Riverwoman, I just did my own pair of these hairties. I just used single threaded sinew and went through all of the beads, and when I hit the bottom (I used crystals instead of cowrie shells), I knotted the sinew a few times to keep the crystal in place and then I went back up through the beads again, so that they were indeed double threaded and then mounted all of the strands onto a piece of doubled over buckskin that I had mounted to my hairties. Be careful to leave enough sinew at the very beginning to knot with the ending piece though. I tried to knot twice for the beginning and end, and found that these knots didnt stay very well during dancing. They would sometimes slip through the hole in the buckskin (maybe the knot wasnt big enough) but I figured out that if you tie the beginning of the sinew with the end of the sinew, once you have gone through all of the beads, this holds better. Hope this makes sense :) PM me if you have any questions :)

Check out the Crazy Crow catalog. They have a kit you can buy that has all the instructions.

I made a set, and they are pretty cool. ;)

HairTies with Cowrie Shells and Fire Polish Beads

Hello, I need any and all info on how to put a set of hairties with cowrie shells, bone hairpipe and fire polish beads together. I have no idea on how it is done, but would appreaciate any info that you mave have

1)I know that you may loom the beaded part, and have to string on the hairpipe, shells and beads, but how would you attach that to the rest?

2)How would you attach the loomwork to the hairtie? Duh.. from me;)

3)How would you make ties on the back of the haritie., so that you may put it on braids?
