  • Opinion needed about Macaw Fan

Okay, I dance jingle and I did not have a fan before but really wanted one. I was given a Blue Macaw and American parrot fan by a good friend as a gift. It is a beautiful fan and I was/am very greatful for it. I have attached pictures of my fan. And my questions are #1: What do you think about my fan, personally? (do you think it's nice? pretty?) #2 Is it appropriate for jingle?

I would really appreciate your opinion! Thanks!!!

    deja vu all over again

Forgive me, but haven't we had this conversation before :)

If you have real concerns about this fan -- as your repeated questions seem to indicate -- then I suggest you consult the person that taught you the customs and practices of your dance.

Any which way the two of you decide about dancing with it, I'd suggest you use use the fan in some way and honor your friend.

I actually didn't know that you had already had a question from a jingle dancer about a macaw fan. And I didn't mean to repeat the question. I wasn't actually repeating the question. I was really asking what do you personally think about my fan. That's why I attached the pictures to it. Sorry for the miscommunication, I'll be fixing that.

I think it is beautiful and don't see anything wrong with using it for jingle, but I agree with OLChemist about asking your teacher/ elder.

I have a question about the fan. Is it mandatory for a jingle dancer to have a wing fan or can a regular fan do??

            wing fans?
            by ahtaquaoweh
What do you think of wing fans? I've seen them being carried by a variety of dancers, including straight dancers. What types of fans do you all use? I prefer a loose fan with eagle feathers...

            what type of fan
            by yishdioh
I was told by a very traditional Northern man that women should be using a flat fan to dance with and not a wing fan. He said using a wing fan would bring ridicule. I have seen both used around here and am confused. He brought it up to be helpful so I have no ill feelings toward him. I'm just curious...
