I am redoing my wing fan now ,as a matter of fact. the pic you have there is one of a flat fan there are a few different ways to construct one first you need to make a wooden handel and drill holes in the top for the quills and cover it with leather. If you want to extend the quills to get that giant supersized look you will need to cut the bottoms off of the quills and stick skinny wooden dowels into the hollow part make sure there glued in there tightly. You don't want to be loseing feathers. the pic that you have there looks like it has some pretty nice featherwork on the quill part. I'm not the one to ask about how to do that I'm not that good at it. on my fan I just put a design on the quill with that thread that you get from the fly tying department at the sporting goods store they have some kewl colors and it wraps realy well. Another tip is drill a hole in the bottom of the handle for a strap to tie around your wrist. (If you drop your fan you could lose it). If there is anything else your fuzzy on I help where I can.

You should be able to find it. There are a few places that have it at the library. Some pow wow vendors seem to have copies of the magazine for sale from time to time. Also I think you might be able to order it direct from the web site after it becomes an official back issue.

There is an article on this in this months Whispering Wind magazine. Some more info is in there about featherwork and how it is done down in the south west.

Oh, also you can buy a ready made fan handle from Noc bay or Crazy Crow ect I think that the one from Noc Bay only has 7 holes tho they're about 4 bucks

I am interested in making a jingle fan. How do you make the large jingle fans n what supplies are needed? I have attached a pic of the kind of fan I need help making. Thanks for any advice or direction.
