naw.. did'nt use butter lid, the beadwork is done on lappad and used a few layers of stiff card for stiffness and then leather backing. At the moment all I have is yogurt lids and they are'nt large enough for barrettes. Yes I used a slip through barrette... they just lay against your hair and head better I think, and don't catch pieces of your hair like the clip kind do. No , i hav'ent made one that required a secondary stick.. not sure why I would need one unless it was a HUGE piece, but have made a big enough barrette that it needed two barrettes. thanks for the compliments folks!!

              • Beautiful work PWB! That second one really looks fuller, more than the first. From the extra rows I guess, great job! Did the customer request these designs, or are the custom designed by you?

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the extra rows are what makes that look soooo full. With 2 extra rows like that one has you can even see through the guard hair. As to the striping designs...when someone orders one and they want stripes I usually talk it over with them and figure out something so it is kinda their idea and kinda mine too. Form time to time some folks just give me colors they want and let me play but usually I talk it all over with them ahead of time so they know what to expect.

                            • Now these on the other hand I have helped with. My wife beaded the flaps and I made the beadwork designs, the upper pattern, cut them out and sew them up and put the flaps on. I am sewing the flaps on the other side currently and I will post another pic of these with her wearing them later. They are Sauk-n-Fox mocs, made with 11/0 beads and the uppers are brain tanned deer hide.

Well, as if I don't have enough other projects going right now I have decided to try my hand at silverwork. I have a ton of it that I need for new dance clothes for my family so I figured I should see if I am any good at it. I have been picking up a few tools and am waiting on some sheet metal to arrive...
