Well , a rough estimate based on square inches......about 30,000 each.
somewhere around 4000 per hank , so somewhere around 15-16 hanks for the pair.Wyo or Ol Chemist or somebody posted a chart to figure bead amounts. I'll see if I have it.

Estimating Bead Amounts
Rough guess to amount of beads you'll need. Measure the length and width of your bead work in inches, multiply the two figures to give you the square inch area of your beadwork. Estimate the amount of beads you'll need from the following chart. Select the bead size and the number of beads for each square inch.

Size 10 = 130 bead per square inch
Size 11 = 187 beads per square inch
Size 12 = 228 beads per square inch
Size 13 = 273 beads per square inch

Now multiply this number the square inch area of the beadwork. This gives you the total number of beads needed.

Next you'll need to know about how many beads there are in a hank.
Size 10 = 3100 beads per hank
Size 11 = 4000 beads per hank
Size 12 = 4500 beads per hank
Size 13 = 5000 beads per hank

Traditional Longbow

This was my latest finished bow for my friend. I am terrible about taking picks of my best work, so I asked my friend to take some with his phone n send em. Usually I break old tradition and decorate the face 'back' of the bow with syllables. This one is red oak with a hickory backing and after I shined it up it was too pretty to decorate. Two pheasant tail feathers hang from the handle.

It's important to note, this is not in the old style either, only the pheasant feathers make it resemble Indian craft, but that is just my own thing.

Here is the 'Jesus' bow I made for my son Daniel. Its closer to the traditional style, with added decor.

Of course the tsi isnt right on this pic. It's missing a squiggle. My excuse is I'm illiterate.

f for finally done posting

This is a viking style bow called 'holmgard style'. I like it cause I can decorate it with a lot of traditional style art/words. Hickory is my favorite wood to use, but here in Cali it's harder to find so I use red oak. For a bow like this because its 80 pounds at my draw length, it needs to have backing so it doesn't snap. The red portion of the bow is rawhide backing.
