Thanks for all the kind words...now here is the one I mentioned yesterday.

This is just a plain ole 12" burgundy in and out.

Everyone one of the roaches I have posted are ones I have sold. That is how I make a living. Now I am trying to 'feel ya' but it is kinda dark in the room and I am not sure if what I have a hold of is you or not! YIKES!!! I will drop you a PM and we can go from there.

Curiousity has gotten me this time. What is the difference between eastern and western porky hair???? I got into a discussion over the weekend about why some porky hair droops and how to cure this from happening. I was told it depends on if it is eastern porky (which I was told is heavier) or western porky hair. Now I know porky come from all over, but I never realized their hair was heavier or lighter. Seems Western porky hair would be heavier because of the colder winters.

      Any comments PWBum??????

Well, yes there is a difference between eastern and western subspecies of porky. The eastern porky's have shorter hair and it is usually darker in color (almost black) with a very small light tip. Eastern porky hair is only around 8" at the most. It is a fairly thick hair as far as the shaft goes. Western porky's are what you see most roaches made from. It can be as long as 12" and comes in many colors and shaft thickness'.

As for eastern hair standing up better....well, I guess yeah it probably would since it is so darn short and thick, but then almost no one uses it to make roaches and 99% of the roaches you see at powwows are made of western hair. How well a roaches hair stands up depends on how well the roaches is made, how well it is taken care of and lastly how long it is.

Thank you sir for the praise, though I am not sure my work deserves such kind words. As for swappin...I have been known to do it, but I can't always cause I pay my bills by making these things. Would have to see at the time. Your roach may be fixable. You just have to make sure the roach maker has long enough hair. I aint got any right now...I did have some but someone broke into my studio and stole all my long hair back in May. Gawd was I mad.

As for the quill work, I love to do it but never get the time to do much of it. One of these days I am going to make me some quilled mocs...one of these days....LOL!

Well, that is what I meant by how long it is, cause the longer it is the more it is effected by humidity.

I just wasn't real clear about that was I...LOL

                  Thanks

Well, as if I don't have enough other projects going right now I have decided to try my hand at silverwork. I have a ton of it that I need for new dance clothes for my family so I figured I should see if I am any good at it. I have been picking up a few tools and am waiting on some sheet metal to arrive...
