    I've always used dowels too. In roughly the same way, sans power tools, LOL. The bamboo is more difficult to break but is so uneven.

    I'll have to try the hot glue. I've always used Alrene's which you can soak off. But the hot glue sounds better.

      I know hot glue for fastening inserts for modern arrows. I agree with wardancer. Heat the hot glue with a heat gun and you can pull the parts apart. May be you have to be a little bit carefull with the heat gun therefore you may try a hairdryer with different heat settings.

                  This one is artificial. Lighter weight and cheaper to build. I make both types. I've made many over the years , mostly real bone , but occasionally someone prefers them lighter. I have one of each in my closet.

                    Dug thru the big box and found a few more feathers. I've had so many different wing sets over the past 30 years , that I just have so many "leftovers" ! My son teases me about it , but I don't want them to go to waste ! And all these things I make with feathers , bustles , fans , roach pins , and anything that has eagle feathers on it , DO NOT GET SOLD. It's all given away to native people.

                        I did this in red and the backboard was red and the uprights were red and.......it was too much red , so I changed it up some. Turned out kinda O.K. Still needs a trailer.
