  • Feather Extensions

I'm making a macaw fan and I used thin dowels as extensions for the feathers. Do I have to worrow about the dowels breaking?

    Thanks for any advice

I would say it depends on how long the extensions are. The shorter they are the stronger they are. That's like taking an uncooked spaghetti noodle... full length it's easy to apply pressure to each end and break it. Break the noodle to approximately 1 or 2 inches and then do the same thing, and you'll jab it into your hand.
If you are what you eat.... I'm fast, cheap and easy.

      Steamy Feathers

I've beaded fans, but this is the first time to make a fan from the feathers to the beadwork. Someone from way down South gave me a lot of Macaw feathers from the Andes. All they told me to do was steam them and wrap 'em up they said. Help with steaming and wrapping? I don't understand any websites...

      Fan question
      by aNishKwe
Okay, so I located a fan handle, not detacheable but whole, which is still fine :)

However, I am wondering what do you use to attach the feathers to the fan. Is there a specific name for that material/piece that I can seek out, perhaps at a art store?
      I'd like to attempt threadwork...
