prayer fan for dancing?

We have a "prayer fan" that we purchased from a gallery that is simple and would be an excellent size for our grand-daughter to use while tradish dancing. My wife says it dont make a difference since it was bought retail! I think I agree, but my OCD forces me to ask

i don't think it matters, unless it was givin to you in a ceremony. (sp)
I know that when we recieve one through the NAC, they tell you that it can only be used in Church services.
My children have fans that they use for dancing and church.

I'd say, if you bought it in a gallery, then it's probably macaw or some other exotic but legal feather, right? Plenty of people use "loose" fans of macaw, pheasant, even eagle to dance with.

However, I'd personally stay away from "church birds" like scissortail, waterbird, and yellowhammer. I've seen a few cats using all of those, and to me it's just asking for trouble - from real hardcore NAC people and in the hereafter, so to speak.
