  • Shawl fringe

I am wanting to make myself a new shawl. I have the fabric, but I need the fringe. Do any of you know an on-line or mail order source for rolls of fringe thread or cording?

Pow wow season is almost over in my area, and I'm afriad I won't find any fringe materials at the next pow wow!

    Thank you!

You could also use ribbon, flagging tape, and I have even seen one shawl that had those green icicles on it:)

My sister suggested ribbon, and I did think about it. I have never made a shawl, and do not look forward to it. However, I have not found a shawl that I like well enough to buy, too picky, I guess. I saw one last summer that was close to what I invision, but the fabric was sleazy feeling.

Shawls with ribbon are pretty. I try to be as traditional as I can, and I'm not sure the ribbon fringe would fit well. Also, I think we ladies look very elegant when the shawl is over the arm and the fringe is swaying. I think the ribbon would be just as tedious to put on also, and costly.

I wish a light blue and yellow shawl with a ribbon work border above the fringe would just drop out of the sky! But, I remember what mom said about wishing in one hand and doing something else in the other. We all know which hands gets full first.

There is a lady in our area that makes shawls to sell with no fringe at all. They are made of heavy poplin cloth and have an geometric appliqued border. They are pretty, but lack the elegance.

My husband says I am too particular. I probably am.
