How to find peyote patterns or design them?

Hello,
I am a beginning beadworker and have done some loom beadwork but want to get started with peyote stitch. I would like to make beaded keychains and pens for my family and close friends for next years holiday season and also for birthday gifts.

However, I have not found any good resources on how to design patterns and it is very difficult for me to visualize anything flat "in the round" so to speak.

I have the Full Circle video but it does not go into design as much as technique.

Any advice appreciated.

PS I have a program called BeadTool on my computer but am not sure what to pick (Gourd/Peyote/, etc) for the keychains and pens...

In other words, I need help :-)

Thanks so much! It's a lot to learn. So is the stitch they demonstrate in the Full Circle video 3 drop peyote? They teach that your number of beads must be divisible by 6 and that you remove 1/3 of the beads to bead with.

there are alot of different ways to do this stitch but if you google shalas beadwork there is a page that has patterns and also printable graph paper to print off and you can make up your own patterns but it is also a good ideal to do alot of research and look at others work and you can get an ideal of how the patterns should look but its best not to copy exact patterns because some are considered to be family patterns and may offend some if you follow the exact pattern but the basics are free to all to use...hope this helps
