I'm starting my first fan and I want to use macaw feathers. Where do I find them though? I've heard of the macaw feather distribution project (started by dr. reyman), but from what I could find, they are no longer taking requests. I'm skittish about just buying some online through a google search because I don't know how the bird was treated. I want my feathers to have a good spirit. I also can't afford to pay $25 per feather. Where can I go to get them?

I have also purchased on ebay and have not been disapointed. Several of the sellers on ebay are bird breeders so they have several birds meaning lots of feathers. Plus you can tell a lot of the bird's diet and living space by the quality and color of the feathers. What size? breed? color are you looking for?

Get in touch with this parrot owner, explain why you need, and reserve the next moulting feathers...
This is a collection of feathers that came from my Blue and Gold Macaw named Pebbles. It took about 2 months to get these from her moulting. I decided to collect them and see if someone would like to use them for some sort of arts and crafts. A friend of mine took some a year ago to make earrings (those haven't surfaced yet though). : ) Anyways, whatever you could come up with to use these for there's plenty of sizes to pick from. They also have various color variations. I tried to get as many of them pictured so you can see how different they are yet the sizes are pretty much the same if they come from the same part of the body. The longest one is 11 inches long and the 2nd longest one is 10 inches long. After that I didn't measure. The small ones vary in size and colors.I'd enlarge the pics to get a better view of them in size and color knowing the really long one is the 11 inch one. They are all quite beautiful. I only collect the perfect ones so if any were not good, they're not here. I will continue to put any more she sheds in here up until the end of auction also. It probably won't be much though as she seems done for now. I've included a picture of my macaw to show you I really do have one so you know I'm telling the truth about where these come from. Winner has to PROMISE to show me what they come up with using these feathers! Ha Ha! : ) Free shippingsigpic

Thank you, I will try to contact the Listia person.
I am open to any types of feathers, as long as they are all tail feathers. I don't even mind getting an uncleaned mix and sorting through to save the best ones. I love blue-gold macaws, but I also love scarlets and of course hyacinth. I've been putting out feelers to find people in my area with macaws, but nothing yet. Any other source ideas are welcome! I'm in the Washington/Idaho area.
