You buy a whole new cutter?? You don't just go and buy replacement blades?

I do a lot of buckskin sewing for my people, and my hands would hurt so bad after a while so I finally tried the rotary cutters and they sure are fast! I have about 3 different types, I also use the exacto blades for cutting when I need precise cuts made. Glad to have helped!

I tried exacto knives and I just couldn't get it to come out the way I wanted. So I use real sharp scissors (AAAARRRGGHH). Thanks for the tip on the rotary tool!!! Have to pick one of those up and give it a try!!!!!!

Oh you can do it, it's easy! The fringe that I was cutting was really long, like over 3 feet long or so, so I bought the largest mat that I saw, which was about 2'x3' and also a clear see through quilters ruler and the rotary cutters. Worked pretty cool and my hands didn't get tired.
Give it a try but if you're serious about needing help, I live in Central Oregon. Good Luck!

Thanks and I will try the rotary cutter. I am off to buy some leather today and I will pick up the cutter and the board. But actually I was hoping someone was going to come to the rescue and do it for me. Oh well!!

Have you tried using an exacto blade and a straight edge? Or those rotary cutters that they use for quilting with the rotary mat and a straight edge. You can pick these up at walmart for a fairly reasonable price. I used the rotary cutter when I cut the fringe for my buckskin dress. Also use it for other projects, it goes really fast. You just need to be steady, precise and patient, you'll get the swing of it. Hope that helps! :)

    Leather deer fringe-HELP!!

    Hi all.

I need help with deer fringe cutting. I got 3 projects (warshirt, leggings and traditional oufit) that I am working on that require fringe. I finished cutting 1/4 inch fringe that is 12 inches long for about 6 feet. After cutting all that fringe my hands gave out on me and am asking for help with about 12 more feet of fringe. PM me if interested in a small project. I provide the leather and dimensions. Thanks
