I would like to invite all tipi owners to the 16th Annual National Powwow Tipi Camp and Competition.
All the tipis will be set up together as a tipi only camp. (There's other areas for RV's and modern tent campers).
The FIRST 20 tipis will receive $50 for gas money.
The Top 3 Tipis in the tipi competition will receive award ribbons with the 1st Place receiving the Collins Award Plaque.
Set up starts on Thursday July 10, 2014 and tear down is on Sunday July 13 after 5 pm or on Monday July 14.
This intertribal powwow is at the Fair Grounds in Danville Indiana just west of Indianapolis with the tipi camp along the tree line on the west side of the powwow site and fairgrounds.
All tipi campers get in free (no camping fees, unlike those in RVs and tent campers).
This event attracts over 500 powwow dancers, in GREAT outfits/regalia, who will be dancing under a roofed pavilion. Plus great drums, over 100 vendors who tend to cater to powwow dancers and craftsmen.
There's also workshops on various topics and a craft competition as well.
This powwow is held once every 3 years and at the last powwow there were at least 20 tipis set up.
For more information you may contact me at [email protected], or visit the National Powwow website at
« National Powwow (which will be updated soon, along with tipi competition rules and judging criteria) or visit us on Facebook..
Non-competition tipis are welcome in the camp as well.
I hope to see you there.
Tim
