i see so many beautiful beaded hair ties rossettes etc with mirrors. I have been having the little cirlce mirrors for about 4yrs now and i don't know how to apply them on with beadwork with out it looking tacky. So if any one could help that would be great. I wanted to apply them to circular circles that r used for croche but i wanted to use it as front dagger on my belt also maybe for the back too. does anyone know how i could decorate the plastic circles that r use for croche. I thought about putting the croshe yard and then the mirror in the center. just need some advice. Do i glue the mirrors on bead work? Just cluess about the mirrors. i am traditional so don't know much about contemp. lol

Mirrors are best attached before doing the beadwork. Use a heavy glue meant for holding stones and heavy items, like E6000 cement to glue on the mirrors. After it dries, you bead around the mirrors. I suppose you could do the same thing with yarn stitching too. Attaching mirrors on top of beadwork, would look like an unplanned afterthought. Much better to place the mirrors first and then bead around them.

I agree with Czechy.. I see placeing the mirrors first a must ,I find it way easier.. The gorilla glue I use GROWS lol as I always say a lil bit gos a long way, just make sure the back is totally coverd in glue so it dont pop off. I also use the E6000 it to can get amite gooey and needs to be applied with great care. I also clamp for a few hrs or apply some sort of pressure, for earings and rings I use a clothes pin to clamp while it dries makeing sure your mirror does not dry to the clothes pin lol thats my been there done that ..I got a fevah! And the only cure is more cowbell!!!

Those are plastic canvas circles, not really anything to do with crocheting, except you do use yarn.
What you should do is fully finish them with the yarn, whether you do cross stitch, needlepoint, or just running the yarn around in a cool design, then glue your mirror on after that....it is what it is...

Ah ok what kept going threw my mind was the lil stitch counter my sister n law uses for her knitting lol.. I have a shell top and I have lil brass rings that are flat . I strung that first few gun metal beads ,C shell then skipd the shell and came back up threw my beads, disk and came out the back of my velvet and tied it off. Not sure if thats the route your wanting to go but that is how I did my shells.I got a fevah! And the only cure is more cowbell!!!

Hi everyone,
am trying my hand at beading my first pair of moccasins. I have made regular moccs, no lining, just double soled, handstitched, pucker toe. This pair I want to add a lining, cushioning and beaded vamp and cuff. I will be doing the bead work in the Iroquoian way - raised beading...-

by DakotaPikeyI'm SO new to powwows.com, have torn these threads apart, and am THRILLED that there are so many wonderful teachers in here willing to lend their advice. I'm completely self taught, but have always had a problem: putting backing on ANYTHING after the beadwork's done (sad, no?). Most of the stuff I...
