I don't know if this has been asked or not. I do remember a thread where someone wanted to know about your ideal pow wow. But what is your most favorite pow wow that you have ever attended?
For me, I have been to pow wows from here in Arkansas all the way up to South Dakota there on the Pine Ridge Res. But I remember one pow wow that my family went to back when I was a teen (many many moons ago). We went to this one pow wow in Springfield Missouri. It was a two day pow wow and it was just a friendly gathering. We only had one drum and there was only two drummers. Both of the drummers that we had didn't know anything about starting the songs. They had to use a tape recorder to start the songs with. There was another drummer that came later on in the afternoon. He knew how to drum, drumed for many years BUT he was like the other two, didn't know how to start the songs. It was a pretty good pow wow. I think there were in all maybe 25 to 30 dancers. It was just a small gathering to where we all had a good time just renewing old friendships and making new ones.
There is a pow wow that we go to in Kansas that I like too cause at night we have the Stomp Dance. Normally a group from the Choctaw rez from Oklahoma comes up for the pow wow and we have stomp dancing late into the night.
Well, thats mine. What is your FAVORITE ALL TIME POW WOW??
