        zeph,
        why confused look...
thats the way i was taught that its okay for one drum to trade song with another but only certain songs...thats what i mean in a tradish manner...its not okay to record certain songs and its not okay to make money off of certain songs...personal gain thats what i call it when you make money off of songs..

Not only are these songs prayers, and not only do most of these songs belong to certain families, but these songs were a gift from the Creator and how dare some try to profit from this. My vote: NO! They MUST be learned and handed down, if they are not, then their time of use is no more and so be it.

            Which is worse..

the one sharing these songs so they can be sold...

            the one selling them....

            the one buying them.....?

Just wondering if there are any thoughts on these.

Selling of your peoples songs is not justified. Period.

                  by sophisticated_lady
                  Hello,
I`ve often read or heard that you scould/should learn trick songs. How do you do this? You can`t learn all of them, what are the songs you listen to to learn?

                  Dance Progression
                  by HeyDad!!
I know that like other songs there are slow medium and fast songs. When singing these songs how should one proceed? For example say your singing 7 or 8 sets, should the first and second be slow, the 3rd slow - medium, 4-6 medium, and 7 and 8 fast?

                  Thanks....

                  by traddancer553
A friend asked me the other day if i knew anything about Ponca songs and the order they have to be sung. He said that he was told that certain songs had to be sung together in a special order. I know very little about Ponca songs. Does anyone here know about this?

                  A "recall" on songs...
                  by LSS
A few friends and I have recently been discussing the notion of how people are currently trying to reclaim song from the drum. Some of these songs are family songs and some belong to individuals. The one that comes to mind is that of Old Man No-Ear.

I'm just curious to find out if you...
