When it's so heavy that you can't walk :dropping:

    Just kidding

I think it would be up to you and what outfit the beadwork is for. I know that I have seen outfits with plenty of beadwork and looked good.....as long as it all compliments the other. But I have seen some beadwork that was way too much and did not match.

So I think it would be on the descretion of the one wearing the work.

No coordination is what drives me batty. Peeps that have everything beaded but have no two pieces that actually match are the ones I dont like...

But then again too, one should know the history of the pieces before getting to judgemental. I have seen some where a few pieces that dont match their overall scheme because of their history or who gave the piece to them, etc...

Is there such a thing as too much beadwork?? :taunting:

Seriously, I agree, if it does not match!!!! I hate to see floral, geometrics... Also... I hate to see Crow, Cheyenne and Woodlands.. what is up with these people??? :p :Mad

Too much beadwork??? I don't think so! Only if there's some ugly @ss pieces or something.

And I hope nobody minds that all my beadwork doesn't match. At least I go for the same general color scheme. And please excuse me for wearing a belt that clashes, cuz I can't fit my own anymore!!!:p

I saw this girl at a powwow one time whose hanging peice on her choker went all the way down to her belt and was about 8 or 9 inches wide! I thought that was a bit too much.

I think on girls when they have to have their heads practically covered in beadwork it's a lil too much. Those nice barrettes that go across the head looks nice and is enough! Crowns are nice for the southern women too! But yea I'm talkin bout beaded headbands WITH the barrette across the front part of the head WITH a smaller one on each side of the head AND a few where your braids start on top HOLY MOLY what's next beaded swim caps? LOL Anyone else think that's a little too much in one sitting?

*Totally agrees!* I always want to ask..do you have any hair left to put one more barrette?

It has to match all the other beaded pieces and it also has to match your regalia, or at least the color scheme should! depending on how big the pieces are, there is no such thing as too much beadwork :D

ok.. here is what i think is alot.

There was a buckskin dancer who had a beaded yoke, a 3 inch wide headband, HUGE barettes at the beginning of her braids, a HUGE one that covered the whole back of her head, 2 on the ends of her braids, a loom beaded choker with the hanginf peice that i swear covered her whole chest, beaded earings, headed wrist cuffs, leggings, fully beaded mocs, and a beaded purse. Phew i think she gained 50 pounds just when she out the beadwork on!

Well as for my beadwork. I have one in the badk of my head in the middle of my 2 braids, and 2 at the end of my braids. MAYBE my wrist cuffs....... But as far as the coordination. the one in the back of my head is the same design that i have on my dress.. the major design that sticks out the most, because the barette is the biggest. And the 2 on my braids is the other design because the barettes are smaller..... so it matches.... But i would NEVER get carried awaya like that!

Has anyone around here ever made a beadwork sampler? I am thinking about doing something like that to try out new designs. Has anyone ever seen raised beadwork on anything other than whimsies and glenngary(sp?) hats? I'm thinking of attempting to do some for a beaded set I want to work on. How well do you think it would last on leggings and a vest? Am I right in thinking that it is a row (line) of beads covered with...

                                Hello,

Just wanted to see what people here on powwows.com feel about ordering beadwork from people. I have done it once for my daughter and the experience was far from positive. I am the kind of person who doesn't like to order something if I can't pay in full, I don't like to do...
