Speaking of painted beads. I have recently relocated from a highly Native population area to one that isn't. In my search to find some kinda community I found a Native American festival that had a young female sporting a full white buckskin dress with AIRBRUSH designs and no beads. i was sad and had to go, even though there is more to being Native then the dress and the dance, I didn't even get that. But I am sure that her great grandmother was a beautiful Indian princess.

I just had to share, it was a traumatic event I am still recovering from, there are no indians here and I feel like I am in the twilight zone

Yeah, they probably wouldn't charge me, just embarrass the hell out of me. :p And I will take a pic. Look for it around 4th of July.

And if anyone wants to check it out, I posted a pic of my friend whose Fancy outfit is practically fully beaded. Everything except his apron, that is, which I put together for him.

I hope this is how you do a link:http://www.powwows.com/galleries/sho...cat=500&page=1

I'm trying to do this sneaky-like. It's a big bronze statue of a cowboy on a horse and there's 3 huge steers that he's herding ahead of him. Every other Christmas, some decks them out with wreaths, or lays out hay for the steers. Sometimes it's goofy stuff. And it's all done in the dead of night.

Noone's done anything in awhile, so I was thinking about doing the headband thing and maybe bands around the horns of the cattle. But I gotta do it late at night. It's probably actually vandalism or something. :p

Yeah, use puffy paint. Everybody does imitation beadwork with that!

And I know what you mean about the crow beads. Ima make a cowboy statue in town a hatband with them for 4th of JuLander. The trick will be getting it on his hat that's like 10 feet off the ground.

Quit bragging, Spotted Eagle. And I know you're stringing up a massive loom and working on that beaded truck cover right now. jks :p

I can see if someone is working on a period or museum piece to be all worried about which beads were available at the time and what colors and how much and the rest of the particulars.

But nowadays at powwows, it's all about the dancing and looking good while doing it!!

    a beadwork sampler
    by Suzizila
Has anyone around here ever made a beadwork sampler? I am thinking about doing something like that to try out new designs. This idea is coming from the July/August 1998 issue of PieceWork magazine in which they cover several things like beadwork, quillwork, baskets, quilting, making dolls, and other...

    Jesus Beadwork
    by Suzizila
I was just wondering how common is it today that people express their religious faith in beads? Not too long ago, I came across a beautiful bag with Jesus walking on water. (Unfortunately, the reserve on this bag was out of my range.)

I've had designs going through my head based on Christian...

    raised beadwork
    by Suzizila
Has anyone ever seen raised beadwork on anything other than whimsies and glenngary(sp?) hats? I'm thinking of attempting to do some for a beaded set I want to work on. How well do you think it would last on leggings and a vest? Am I right in thinking that it is a row (line) of beads covered with...

    About Beadwork And Prices.
    by Zintkala Towa Win
    Hello,

Just wanted to see what people here on powwows.com feel about ordering beadwork from people. I have done it once for my daughter and the experience was far from positive. I am the kind of person who doesn't like to order something if I can't pay in full, I don't like to do...
