Well, seriously, I think you could put beads on your hook instead of bait and some idiot fishes would still bite.:p

I saw a bracelet done with fishing line once. I imagine it might help prevent wear and tear. If it's cotton or nylon thread, there is a chance the beadwork could break or something. I would imagine the fishing line might make something more durable. But getting fishing line small enough to thread through 12/0 beads might be kind of difficult. I think the piece I saw was 10/0 beads. I would imagine it would be like using horse hair as the weft thread. I've seen some of those, and they don't seem to ever wear out.

                              That's my 2 bits.

Long Term Effects of Backing Beadwork
                                by TallmanFL
I have seen many others that have dopne their beadwork on index cards and even paper? I have always used canvas and have usually used interfacing behind that.

My question is has anyone had any long term problems with beadwork done on index cards or paper? Does the beadwork fall apart?...

                                by ac ndn
I was just wondering what kind of leather or material are used for beadwork backing. I have leather but it seems a little too thick. Any information would be appreciated.

is it ok to do lazy stitch for a tradish set without copyin geometrical designs? is it ok to do a kind of okla. type of beadwork with animals and other types of designs or is it better to modify geometrical designs?

                                oki,

I've always just tied a knot and went to work... now i've just noticed some knot then weave thier thread abt 10rows before actually beading ... why?

does it add some stablity to the work? or enable better tie offs to be then folded under?

Different backing materials for different uses

Ok so i have made the leap and found that while i'm not great yet i really enjoy doing beadwork. I've read a lot of the posts on different backings for different uses (breathable vs leather), but need opinions on what to back a piece with if it's going to be used on clothing.
                                I am working on...
