  • What Age

    I 'm sure this has been asked but since I don't see it anywhere I will ask anyway?

    At what age did you begin to bead? Who taught you?

    ========== ****==========****=============
    I was 6 when I began learning by my Mommah. She started me with Lazy . Hmmmm? Was she trying to tell me something? :Chatter

    I was 7 when my Grandma started me out on a loom. Still have the same loom (with the same old unfinished project :p) jks

    When I was 13 I started to applique or tack. At 15 I got into lazy stitch and peyote/gourd.
    ...it is what it is...

        I started beading in Oct. last year. I'm 29 now. My dad gave me some pointers over the phone, on the computer and I read several books. But once I started, it was like I've been doing it forever. I can't explain it, I just know I enjoy it. I beaded a couple little ankle braclets for my wife and daughter. After that I beaded my wife's rose belt and then started on my eagle belt I'm doing now.

        When my dad came up for Christmas he showed me applique and peyote, but I haven't used either very much, ........ yet. A friend is going to teach me lazy stitch this fall.
        The things you are doing today are the traditions of twenty-five years from now.

          I started when I was about 16 - learned from one of my mom's friends. First thing I learned was gourd stitch to do a fan handle, and it's all but falling apart these days since it was the first thing I made...

          After that I picked up loom and applique, but didn't do too much beadwork while I was in college. Since graduation I've had a lot more time to bead. :)

                SomeWheres around 6 or 7 I learned just by watching my dad's Girlfriend. No one really sat me down and Showed me how to do any style or stitch in particular, of course I don't know how to ask for help...So I just watched and went at beading head on. I did ALL my own work after that, which eventually lead to 2 fully beaded outfits...and I helped out with a TON of other folks stuff here in the NW.:D

                            I got started when I was about 10 or 11. Most of the instruction I received was from books at library. My first projects were loom work and those old wire and bead rings.....anyone remember those?.......Later on, I started working on rosettes. I really didn't have a beading teacher.......it was all books, trial, and error.

                              I started beading when i was 12 or 13. My mother taught me gourd stitch, My sister taught me Medallions, Loom work from my Grandmother, Do all my own flat work, Usually use size 13 cuts. but depends on what im working on, if its something big I will usually use size 12 if i need it done in a hurrry....LOL! Been leaning more and more to using size 12 3-cuts. I usually use size 12 to outline my projects and use 13 to fill it in. Also starting to use hex beads.

                                Calling in sick to work makes me uncomfortable. No matter how legitimate my excuse, I always get the feeling that my boss thinks I'm lying. On one recent occasion, I had a valid reason but lied anyway, because the truth was just too darned humiliating. I simply mentioned that I had sustained a head...

                                Well last night while beading a bird wing (velvet, not like a real bird's wing), I chipped my tooth holding the needle in my mouth!! My hands are looking like mummy hands cause the velvet is white like stark white, snow white and I'm afraid if I use any lotion I'm gonna make spots on it to get sticky...
