  • Prob with beading.....

At least I think it is a problem.
I am beading my crown, on the fun foam. It is working really well. The only thing I find wrong is that it is curling up on me. I am going to be putting something else on the back of it to try to straighten it out, but what should I use? I am going to use elastic band to keep it on. Any suggestions?

I didn't do it, honestly. I have burned all the proof.

yes I am fully beading it. Front to back, top to bottom. No part will show the fun foam. (Mainly because the fun foam is a ugly maroonish color)

back it with a double layer of posterboard or a nice thick piece of plastic and then your cloth...this should help with the curling...also check that you are not pulling your stitches too tight..that might be part of the curling.

          Thank you Blackbear!
I had thought about posterboard, but wasn't sure. I was going to use another piece of funfoam, like a black color. The stitches aren't too tight, if anything they are loose. I haven't been pulling to hard.

well next time you are going to fully bead it on the fun foam try a heavier piece... maybe that would help

Different backing materials for different uses
                    by momme
Ok so i have made the leap and found that while i'm not great yet i really enjoy doing beadwork. I've read a lot of the posts on different backings for different uses (breathable vs leather), but need opinions on what to back a piece with if it's going to be used on clothing.

Hi!! I have finally decided that I am going to do a picture show on doing applique work. I will be starting this before the end of the week and will take me some time to do as it will be done in real time. I had never tried using real sinew & thought I would give it a try. Has...

                    by storm122366
I am starting a new traditional set of beadwork. I have been using buckskin as a material to bead on but it moves around too much. Does anyone have any advice on what is the best material for lane stitch items. I had thought about using canvas, but did not know if it would show too much after sewing...
