  • Battle River/Tha Tribe

I have never seen these two groups set up at the same powwow. I've seen them all sitting at the same drum, but never both set up. Are they one group with two names?

  • #2
Good Question! I too have not seen both of them set up at one time. Maybe they should be called Battle Tribe or Tha River!
    NO FEAR!

I just recieved a PM that they both set up at Mount Pleasant. Battle River was Host and the Tribe took 2nd in the drum contest. So....they must be 2 different groups - they just hook up and support one another at different powwows. That's all cleared up. Thanks for the PM!!!!!

They are two different groups. People are getting confused because Ken and Wayne sang with Battle River at Conn. last couple of years and a few other palces. They are two totally different groups though.

It really doesn't matter to me - both groups jam - and I love playing Tha Tribe's music on the radio show I host - we get alotta requests for them - especially Potato Pie. All their CD's show their sense of humor - showing people that they are real - that's nice. :D

they were different groups at red earth....tha tribe is from haskell and battle river is from minnesota so it'd be kinda hard for em to be in the same group all the time

Battle River has long been around since the tribe came. The Tribe is a break of from the Boyz from when they had a split a few years ago. I remember seeing a video from Bismark and it showed Battle River and the Boyz singing some cool songs.......TMS

thats what i thought. . . i don't remember wayne silas, jr or ken or any of those guys ever singing with the boyz. i remember wayne and gabe with stoney park. i always thought the boyz were twin cities boyz that practiced at peacemaker and grew up together. seem like a tight knit group to me. just my thoughts.

                                Question:

this past weekend High Noon won at Loon Lake and also Yorkton. Is it appropriate for them to compete at different powwows using the same name?

A favorite subject of mine. I love to see groups come out of left field and rock a pow-wow like it was nobody's business and hardly anyone knows where they come from.

There are groups that are establishing themselves these days, but I wanna talk about the groups that are just getting off...
