Ok we allwayz make threads askin which is group is better or who has the best lead etc. But now overall which is better. The North Siderz or the durty durty south and y u picked wat u picked.The pole is in the southern side. GO VOTE!!!

I have to go with the south on this one. I enjoy all the different dance styles, but I love southern straight. It's just such a masculine dance that is not seen up north. I love the strong sounds of southern music and 49 songs....Northern round dance cannot compete with southern 49 jams. There's nothin' else like it: there's so much energy and passion behind these songs that can't be felt in round dance. Also, gourd dancing is an important part of southern powwows that I really enjoy. Gourd dance is not about competitive dancing or money and it's well loved. However, there are so many things that I love about Northern powwows and music such as all the different song and dance styles: double beat, crow hop, side step, duck & dive etc. Their powwows really make dancers showcase their styles and that doesn't happen as much in southern powwows. Also I do think that Northern powwows are more welcoming to Southern dancers by having southern and northern categories separated. Gotta love them both.

And I am not even going there about the straight dancers looking so masculine......
And what is up with you all having to have 4 songs for what northerners can get done in one???
(and for those that don't know me...... i'm saying this for the benefit of some hopeless and helpless southerners...
