All I can say is that I knew the Battle River Boys' dad and he was 100% against alcohol, it was against everything that he believed in. Yes, they are drunks and yes they can sing like no one else. They need to learn to act respectfully and stop embarassing their family and their tribe.

battle river sings some good straight songs. These songs make people dance
plus other drum groups can sing them. I really have no complaints because this issue is family buisness. All I know is this isn't right talkin about people and not telling them what they did wrong. We all shouldn't be hatin on each other "Peace"

Man you guys are really talking alot of crap. I know I've argued with my family members inappropriately at times. Sometimes you can't help it. I'm not a "Mrs. Poole" and have to go nose around in business that doesn't concern you. Sure, you didn't like it but it happens. You guys remind me of a buncha old ladies really gossiping thinking you have tha' scoop. I don't know Battle River well, but I know that they have a bond and it shows in their singing. Mostly everybody who pow-wows drink. I've partied with alot of different drum groups besides Battle and I know a lot of dancers who win first place all drunk too. I smell a lot of dancers reekinng of booze but I'm not going to say they're drunks. Battle River still kicked it out as I heard, so people gotta stop fussing. It won't be too soon when everyone's bashing someone else. I go to a pow-wow to have fun and see friends and yeah! drink with them too and it's okay (my opinion). Well, I hope all you haters forgive them someday. This doesn't tarnish my view of them because they aren't the only ones who smokes down or parties. I've seen hundreds of dancers and drummers partying all night long too.

HI ALL! Just wanted to know how many of you took tha time to talk to any members of the Battle River drum from that weekend????? I talked to someone who was singing with them that weekend and they told me the entire story and I informed them of what was going on in this forum. Lot of shyt talking it seems anyways. But just for the record the situation seemed to be handled correctly and nothing was done wrong to cause a DQ of Battle River at Schemitzun. Take the tyme to hear both sides of the story!! I support these guys, they jam, and make people feel good when they sing. Same thing with Wayne and his guys. KEEP IT REAL.

It is really hard to live under the spotlight and talented drum groups and dancers are no exception. I find it hard to believe that Battle River made such a spectical of themselves and still managed to win the drum contest. The Kingbird Family has been a pow-wow family for generations and now are members on numerous big name drum groups. I remember The Kingbird Drum were "Uncle Royce", his brothers, his dad, and a couple cousins. It makes me proud to see how this family has grown and have songmakers, dancers, and singers.

Battle River won because of talent and love for singing. They are on the pow-wow trail during much of the year and do their best to live up to the committments they make.
                Battle River Fan!!!
