  • Most Embarrassing Memory @ the Drum

Going for something on the lighter side of life this morning And it's not a poll

Just wondering what is your most embarrassing memory while singing? Maybe you've lead a perfect life and would like to tell tales on some of your friends who you were embarrassed for. Perhaps something bad happened that resulted in something good happening later. Maybe you're just grumpy today and don't want to play

I haven't been singing for long, so I embarrass myself almost all the time, LOL, just by showing up But I'd like to hear about pitfalls that I should try to avoid.

First time I was asked to lead a song... ever... I was nervous. I wound up singing a calling song... the head singer didn't even let the song finish out the push before he changed it up. I felt small. That experience dropped my confidence down to zero, and even today I'm extra cautious in deciding which song to sing, if I'm asked to start a song.

But on the other hand... it was a kick-a$$ lead.

I quess, being given the lead and my voice cracking so bad, that the lead singer starts laughing so hard. At the end of the push-up he's still laughing and points the lead back to me. Needless to say this time thru was better. Head singer never let me live it down. ..... But the drum always provides the medicine.

OOOhhhh yeah, I forgot about this one. We were singing for the opening day of the U.N.I.T.Y (uniting native indian tribal youth) conference in FL. in 1994 and were on a stage. While singing some how my chair slipped off the stage and I followed it. That was alot of embarassment... 100% free of charge.

        goot job Yogi

          Here's a Good Goof..

We were host drum in lower Michigan and I started a song with a lead that was similar to another song. After I led, the rest of the drum came back with the other song. I gave them a confused look.. so on the 2nd push up I gave the lead to another singer..fully expecting to second the song we started and those guys busted-out with the song I wanted in the first place. Only thing was I came back with the first song..duh...It wasn't until the 3rd push-up, that we were all on the same page..sort of speak..well, we gave the other drums a good laugh!!

I was singing up in Philly this past summer with some friends and we kicked out a pretty well known song for a hoop dance exhibition. I passed on the lead the first time or two when it came to me, but, I worked up enough gutts to try at it b/c I've heard so many times. None-the-less, I still reverted back to an older song that the lead sounded like. The guys ragged me on into the next morning.

Lookin' back, it was pretty funny....the lead was butchered up to high heavens. Luckily no one else there knew me or the song! ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
To get a true picture of your purpose in life, you only get the whole picture when you listen with your mind, your ears and your heart. This way The Creator has a direct connection with you and only you...no outside interference.

When you follow the will of IT that created you, understanding that your purpose is not for you...but for IT and all that IT has created, there can be no wrong except failure to be obedient. Only then do we jeopardize the gifts we are given.

Its not the final destination that defines us, rather the journey taken!

I used to sing all the time. In the car, at all the small community powwows, impromptu 49s, dance demonstrations etc., etc. I felt confident about the stamina, strength and voice range of my voice.

Now that it is winter, I rarely sing anymore.

when a song is sung that you just ain't feelin it are you 1 to just kinda walk-dance or do you try and jam any ways. I try and dance but it hard some time to try and fake it. Some times I'll just sort of sneak off but I don't like to because it seems so disrespectful to the drum.
