The best original these days seem to be coming from the Chippewas/Ojibways and Crees these days: Battle River, Snake Island, High Noon, Red Bull, White Tail and Rockboy/Haystack.
White Eagle- everyone sings Arlie's songs
Mandaree- everyone sings the Baker's songs
Battle River- Kingbirds at their best
High Noon- jamming tunes but they need to get rid of that Darryl guy!
Red Bull- when they have a full crew
Mystic River- they need to be more repectful. I seen a few of these guys manhandling spectators and other singers at Schemitzun last year.
WhiteTail- when they first hit the scene, they were powerful but they must have lost some of their singers.
Haystack- always good old tunes
Snake Island- up and coming

Manhandling, huh? What's this about? They're a good group, nonetheless!
Yes they are a good group, that is why I have them on my list but I was only stating that I witnessed a couple of them disrespecting people at Schemitzun. Inappropriate behaviour for singers as this reflects on their group.
Ok people, lets not get off topic here!
My favorite originals: High Noon, Battle River, WhiteTail, Haystack, Mandaree, Mystic River, WhiteEagle, Badlands, Porcupine, Fly-In-Eagle, Indian Nation, White Horse, Snake Island and Mountain Soul.
Hey everyone, this is my first post as I am new to this web board but I have been singing for quite awhile now.
My favorite original groups are high noon, battle river, red bull and mystic river.
hmmm....think you might be misrepresentin' Big Bear and High Noon.....although they have some Cree singers I'd be hesitant to call them a Cree drum...especially with the songs they sing.....
I Don't really get on here to voice my opinion very much because im a young man, anywayz i usally just get on here and read all the threadz, and here the opinion of such expertz, it's funny so after checkin most of ya'll out and gettin a good feelin on ya'llz opinion...
Whatever happened with this group? I remember the original group with the Mianscum boys. Good sound, good respectable guys. There may have been dissension within the drum because the main part of the group broke away and began a drum called the Poplar Singers. Fine bunch of men - young and older. ...
