A lover’s kiss still fresh
On lips touched last
Long ago

Knows the courage
And bravery of
Her strong warrior
And the hardships
That he endures
With quiet might --

His own valor
Drawn from the joy
And hope that springs
Ever forward -- from
She who waits . . .
